Meet Skip Lyttle. He is our beloved village armorer and MacGyver. He’s a self-described voluntaryist, Skip and I have been friends since near the beginning of the new millennium.

Skip has been a student of martial and other fighting arts, and dozens of weapon types, since a young age. He’s been to several survival schools, teaches survival arts, and was a serious prepper long before prepping was cool. He is a self-taught gun builder, and has attended numerous schools including Front Sight and Massad Ayoob Group (I don’t recommend it and neither foes he, we attended at the same time). If you ever visit him, he’s always working on a Kydex project, gun build, or modifying his Landcruiser. He’ll teach you how to throw a tomahawk or knife in his back yard. He is married to the most tolerant woman on the planet, with three teenagers who can probably out-shoot most of the people you know. At no time will he ever refer to himself as an expert because he is always expanding his knowledge. He enjoys bugging out to the mountains and his favorite color is Flat Dark Earth (FDE)… seriously. -BB

What is a home armory?

The home armory is whatever arms are needed to secure the home from besiegement by bad actors. It should include pistols on your person, so you can fight your way back to your rifle, which you shouldn’t have left behind in the first place (Thank-you, COL Jeff Cooper). It is recommended that arms access, training, and usage span the entire, capable/responsible family, should it occur while one or both parents are not home. The home armory is merely one layer of the security of a home, which should include a place to shelter, physical security barriers like locks, gates, a driveway alert, and an alarm system.

What is the recommended basic load for the concerned subject in America?

The basic load begins with your Every Day Carry (EDC) and extends based on the anticipated threat. A pistol, a spare magazine or two, a light, and a knife are the minimal for EDC, the pistol for sudden and close threats, a knife to back up that primary weapon system in the event of a failure. One or two spare magazines and knowledge of a tactical and combat reload procedure should be practiced often to include a realistic under-stress scenario to inculcate the importance.

Let’s do a gear check of what’s on me right now: Glock 22 and Streamlight TLR-1 in an OWB hand-made Kydex holster, 2 spare 15 round magazines in a hand-made, Kydex magazine pouch, Fenix E12 in front, left pocket, CRKT M21-04 front right pocket, Casio Pathfinder watch, 550 cord bracelet, GI-issue handkerchief, Firestarter, and a Space Pen. That’s pretty much standard for me every day.

What pistol platform and why?

I chose a Glock pistol for its simplicity, ubiquitous magazine availability, and proven reliability. I chose .40 S&W because it has commonality with nearly all local police agencies, which may provide me additional magazines if they were injured or killed during an active shooter/zombie apocalypse scenario. As a secondary capability, I use Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrels to double the calibers of common ammunition without doubling the number of pistols and it also saves money for practice sessions with the family. It did require additional Glock and MAGPUL magazines in 9mm, which are also ubiquitous, even during a periodic and typical gun-panic shortage.

There is nothing wrong with using 9mm, I just chose .40 for current interoperabilty reasons.

What rifle platform and why? Tell us about the evolution from the FAL MBR to the AR platform.

About the time that Bill and I met in 2001, we were both in the Army, there was a resurgence of FAL parts kits and .308 M-80 NATO available in the markets… so, over the course of a few years, I built over a dozen for myself, Bill, and other close friends… but eventually, I became slightly annoyed by their finicky gas tubes, high-carbon-producing pistons, and aged/weak magazines and looked back to the AR platform as soon as MAGPUL developed the .308 PMAG magazine.

One of the major forces behind moving to the AR platform was that I was getting remarried and having children that would all want to shoot something lighter than a .30 caliber battle rifle. I opted for the Stoner design in both 5.56mm and 7.62mm, however, I did lots of study and built the guns, part-by-part, based on a broad range of research and experimentation.

What I ended up with for the 5.56 fleet was a mid-length gas, Bravo Company upper, a standard Spikes lower, with MAGPUL and Troy furniture. I have yet to find a better rear Back Up Iron Sight (BUIS) than the Knight’s Armament rear sight, thanks to watching famed Chris Costa, and his opinion of them in Art of the Carbine.

When I built the 7.62 AR platform, I wanted a shorter barrel than the M110, so I opted for the 18.5” Criterion barrel sold by Fulton Armory because there was a balance between weight and accuracy, plus it was chrome-lined for longer-lasting durability. Since it was built off the DPMS platform, parts were fairly inexpensive leaving room in the budget for a decent optic, the Vortex 2.5-10×50. And other required items for shooting farther more accurately than the typical battle rifle, but for less money than a sniper rifle.

Should one be a gunsmith or have some of those skills?

Having gunsmith training, especially when you want to build or maintain your own pistols or rifles is certainly a plus. At some point, weapons maintenance and repair will be treated as an invaluable skill, so if you are handy with a Dremel and understand how to put things together after you’ve disassembled maybe something you shouldn’t have, you may have a shot at becoming a DIY gunsmith. The best trick I can share with the audience is always cut on the cheapest part when modifying something. It is also important to remember that every skillset learned is less you have to pay or barter for down the road. In a worst-case scenario, one may have to fix or modify non-functioning weapons or to cannibalize several non-functioning firearms as a last resort.

Tell us about EDC? What comprises an individual load and what are your mission profile variations? How about a vehicle load-out for both urban and off-road?

As of this writing, the question of whether Hillary Clinton violated the law with respect to her official emails while Secretary of State remains in the hands of the FBI investigators. Some, most notably (former) Judge Andrew Napolitano, have opined that there is no doubt she broke federal law and that an indictment is certain. Others have suggested that Hillary will never be indicted for no more specific reason than the Clintons have a virtually unbroken record of escaping accountability for their misdeeds spanning more than 25 years in public office.

M ost recently, and as no surprise, President Obama publically endorsed Hillary for President. As this clearly suggests that he cannot be unbiased with respect to her guilt or innocence, some have suggested it is time for a special prosecutor to be appointed to objectively investigate her actions with respect how she handled or mishandled classified (or, at least, very secret) email as Secretary of State.

Andrew McCarthy, a former prosecutor with the Department of Justice, writes in National Review, June 11, that a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary’s email scandal would be a bad idea. He argues that a truly independent prosecutor would not be a part of the Executive branch of the government and would therefore be unconstitutional, since all prosecutorial power is given to that branch. On the other hand, were Obama to appoint a special prosecutor within the Executive branch, such a person could not be independent since he or she would ultimately answer to Obama. What McCarthy argues in favor of is impeachment of Mrs. Clinton. While she obviously cannot be removed from an office she no longer holds, impeachment in the House of Representatives, followed by conviction in the Senate, could officially preclude her from ever holding federal public office again. McCarthy, however, concedes that it is highly unlikely that the Republican controlled Congress has the will to begin such proceedings, given their inability to stand on principle against any of the actions of the Obama administration over the last seven years, which they oppose.

Andrew Napolitano, quoted in World Net Daily, June 9, argues for a special prosecutor stating, “An independent counsel would alleviate conflict because an independent counsel is not answerable to the director of the FBI, is not answerable to the attorney general and is not answerable to the White House.” He claims that an independent counsel could be established by giving the selected individual his or her own budget.

Who is right? If, indeed, Hillary has committed even 5% of the crimes of which she is publicly accused, how could her political career be ended once and for all? Perhaps neither McCarthy nor Napolitano have the right prescription for dealing with a former high-level government official accused of wrongdoing. Despite the claim virtually all Americans have heard ad nauseam since elementary school, there are no “checks and balances” within government. That our federal government is a monolith of unrestrained power is evident to anyone, American or otherwise. The hope that one part of the government will reign in or hold accountable another part (individual or group) is worse than a bad joke. No one in government, elected or appointed, will admit that his or her power and budget comes at the expense of those who are not in government. In fact at this point in history, even few people outside government will publicly admit what is painfully obvious to anyone who gives it a moment’s thought: all government is based up threats of violence against anyone who doesn’t want to comply with its dictates or fund it. Perhaps the only real way to deal with any would-be-president is to allow the know-nothings to “elect” her and then those of us fed up with the charade of government could promptly refuse to uphold the state which she proclaims to lead. Imagine, for example, if initially a trickle of Americans refused to pay income tax henceforth, refused to use phony-baloney Federal Reserve notes, and refused to obey all other laws that are morally repugnant to them? Imagine if that trickle became a creek, a stream, and finally a roaring river of civil disobedience to the very people who have undermined our security, destroyed our economy, and impeded progress in countless ways? Imagine, if Hillary became the President of a government that, within a few weeks, dissolved under her very feet? That would be a fitting end to her political career.

Peter H. McCandless Las Vegas

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

I am going to predict that the incident we saw in Dallas this week is going to start to repeat itself ominously across the country. Dorner was an outlier but a harbinger of things to come.

I have often wondered when I see the videos or read court transcripts of women and children maimed and killed by police, where are their male kin and husbands? In my travels planet-wide, nothing sets a man’s mind more firmly than seeing his women and children brutalized or killed and the malefactors going unpunished.

Historically, a thorough study of Vichy France has startling parallels to the US today. Many are going to be saying this is all about race and the very same who would be doing so would be decrying connections to the South and the Confederacy if the shooter had been a white Sons of Confederate Veteran sporting a Bonnie Blue and shouting Deo Vindice as he fires away. Neither supposition is correct, the state wants the divide and conquer possibilities of racialist and language demarcations. This is only about an occupying force of badged and armed government bureaucrats with a license to kill with impunity. A de facto and de jure government army whose prime directive is to ensure compliance to political diktats. Nothing more complicated. Once the dust settles, many will discover that unfettered and unregulated access to small arms will solve many of the problems the government has created,

A decent read on another view in stages of insurgency.

Update: 082210JUL16: It appears the single shooter used an inexpensive SKS that was 100% compliant even with the new hoplophobic laws the Orcs and their masters adopted in Kalifornia, Sauron’s west coast division. Interesting that the shooter had his head on straight in fighting conditions to reload via clip during the melee.

Update 101012JUL16: Now it appears to be a Saiga AK-74 clone that fires a 5.54mm round.

What one man can achieve with a gun:

Heinrich Severloh

Simo Hayha.

Jack HInson.

As a matter of fact, unpunished aggression that is rewarded with protection and laurels corrodes the soul of every person involved.

“Let’s look at our immediate neighbors to the north, Canada. The total number of citizens killed by law enforcement officers in the year 2014, was 14; that is 78 times less people than the US.

If we look at the United Kingdom, 1 person was killed by police in 2014 and 0 in 2013. English police reportedly fired guns a total of three times in all of 2013, with zero reported fatalities.

From 2010 through 2014, there were four fatal police shootings in England, which has a population of about 52 million. By contrast, Albuquerque, N.M., with a population 1 percent the size of England’s, had 26 fatal police shootings in that same time period.

Let that sink in. Law enforcement in the US killed 92 times more people than a country with nearly 1.4 billion people.”

Five Dallas cops dead yesterday in an ambush. A number of others injured. The talking heads characterized the use of a pistol as sniping which is yet another indicator that most observations by the media are simply dead wrong in both circumstance and modality.

Another lone gunman in Dallas. Go figure.

Sniping is ordinarily precision application of a long arm in surgically removing, suppressing or harassing potential and real threats. It is far too early to grab a clue or trail of evidence that points to either motive or operational craft of the assailants.

This appears to be a hasty or deliberate ambush, most like an opportunity for the latter to be practiced with the skill of the former.

The usual suspects are all aflutter at the audacity and hubris of such an individual(s) because this is the same media and audience that doesn’t bat an eye when their black and blue line maims and murders at will. Even in circumstances where innocents are mowed down or bystanders struck, it must be a lack of training or error, certainly not malicious intent or gross negligence.

Publisher’s Note: It appears BREXIT is reality and all the usual suspects are bleating and mewling that the sky is falling because a political subsidiary of a larger psychopath collective has dared to divorce it self from the theft and oversight of the fetid EU. Good for them, now we can consider DisCoXit (District of Columbia Exit).

A Yale law professor acknowledges in a mainstream left-liberal publication laws no matter how banal must be wiling to kill to enforce. Hence the police state that is Amerika today. Folks who frequented this site have arrive t that obvious conclusion years ago.

Read the preface for a great introduction to James Scott’s work and Irish Democracy. He is nowhere near being a libertarian abolitionist but he asks poignant questions despite deviating wildly from the moral certitude of his inevitable conclusions.

From his tepid and rather confused “Two Cheers for Anarchism”:

“Quiet, anonymous, and often complicit, lawbreaking and disobedience may well be the historically preferred mode of political action for peasant and subaltern classes, for whom open defiance is too dangerous….One need not have an actual conspiracy to achieve the practical effects of a conspiracy. More regimes have been brought, piecemeal, to their knees by what was once called “Irish Democracy”—the silent, dogged resistance, withdrawal, and truculence of millions of ordinary people—than by revolutionary vanguards or rioting mobs.”

We need more Irish Democracy in America. It took the denizens of Eire over 800 years to trade their foreign socialist shackles from England for domestic collectivist manacles they wrested upon themselves. Maybe America can take less time than that to sunder the tentacled embrace from Mordor on the Potomac.

Scenario games and “what if’s” dominate conversations in the preparedness culture.

Working through various situations in our heads makes perfect sense. It helps develop a key tool: Mindset.

What these Kim’s games generally lack is context. These conversations assume everyone in the discussion has the same conception of what the event will be, or the even broader question of what exactly SHTF means. It’s all subjective and situational dependent. There is no answer to “what if…?” The context must be defined.

A mundane question such as ‘what is the best combat load out?’ will morph into a three hour back and forth about this or that rifle, which plate carrier is more Gucci and what type of underwear is the most efficient at wicking ball sweat. The whole time I sit back listening and thinking: “Well what is the mission? What is the event? Who, What Where, When, Why?” Essentially going over the civilian version of METT-TC in my head. It is never lined out. One person is envisioning the proverbial horde of mutant cannibalistic biker gangs ravaging the countryside, ala One Second After. Another’s context of the event is a full on invasion of CONUS by Daesh or the Haqqani Network. And another is thinking “Jeez, I thought SHTF was when I lost my job last week.” Context is critical. But one thing is true about nearly all these conversations. It tends to always focus on the absolute worst scenario imaginable, despite minor variations in each persons head.

What this community needs is an accurate threat analysis. Threats need to be defined and essentially listed out from the most likely to the least likely to occur. One is more likely to encounter a profit crime on the street, before ISIS shows up in your bedroom. You are going to encounter a home invasion or an active shooter before an insurgency against the US state or Mad Max II.

After running this through my brain for a couple years, I concluded that an apocalypse-only focus may get you killed in the streets. With this in mind I am no longer focusing on the most cataclysmic and unlikely event as my training priority.

After attending a number of classes over the years, I found that it was not uncommon at all to see half or more students, upon finishing the class, pack up their gear, lock up their rifle, separate the ammo then drive home without a CCW on their person. During class they had chest rigs for days, but not even a J frame to stick in their pocket when they return to normal life. The class made them better off to fight the Zombies invading their neighborhood, (if they had plenty of advance notice to prepare of course, to strap on their war kit and get in the proper fighting stance) but they were completely unprepared to defend themselves from a normal street criminal, the much more likely scenario.

Their mind was in “One Second After” scenario mode. They were ready to go SBU prone with their fire team, but lacked ECQC skills and tools to combat the all more likely scenario of the Stop and Rob they bought that Gatorade from being violently robbed. A robbery that was committed not by an ISIL operative yelling ALLAH SNACKBAR! But by a normal looking middle-aged white guy, who decided to initiate the robbery by smashing a wine bottle from the rack over their disarmed and situational awareness deprived head.

I got news for you. The Shit has JUST Hit The Fan the moment that wine bottle busted over the guys head. (So much for that “Truck Gun”)

“Nearly all creators of Utopia have resembled the man who has toothache, and therefore thinks happiness consists in not having toothache. They wanted to produce a perfect society by an endless continuation of something that had only been valuable because it was temporary. The wider course would be to say that there are certain lines along which humanity must move, the grand strategy is mapped out, but detailed prophecy is not our business. Whoever tries to imagine perfection simply reveals his own emptiness.”

– George Orwell “Why Socialists Don’t Believe in Fun”, Tribune (20 December 1943)

Publisher’s Note: My prediction for the BREXIT vote: if it were paper ballots, the UK will leave the EU Socialist Paradise; if electronic voting, BREXIT will not pass. I hope I am dead wrong and would love to see half the states in Amerika propose a BREXIT strategy from DC.

Update 06241318JUN16 for BREXIT!

It appears that Scotland, Northern Ireland and London all voted to stay in the EU. Proves out that the modern Scots are to William Wallace what the crucifix is to the vampire. They have no more connection to pre-1746 Scotland than they do to any semblance of individualist pride their now ancient ancestors sported when they ruled themselves after spanking the British Army at Stirling Bridge. Truly they are the tame poodles of English conquest.

Now let’s celebrate with a TEXIT in the USSA. But please, don’t ask permission, just do it. Katy bar the door as state after state in the Inland West follow the pathfinders in Texas. I would recommend that Austin be embargoed and don’t let any of that collectivist contagion posing as human beings loose until the borders are sealed from the USSA and Mexico. Then don biohazard suits and escort the entire population of Austin to the nearest airport to board chartered flights to their philosophical homelands in Chicago, NYC and LA.

In researching some history on coproach misbehavior, I discovered that 14 cops have been convicted of murder since 1912. Fourteen. Last year alone, American Orcs murdered 1146 Helots.

Just finished the cover for my novel, The Cancer Club. Looking good. -BB

Your neighbor is not your friend in America. In a society as hyper-regulated as the American state, the chances your co-workers and neighbors has been suborned as an informant who either is paid or finds it their twisted duty to fellate the police state and snitch. Historically, fabricated crimes that have no victim except the state demand a very large and sophisticated informant network to keep the system afloat and erecting the feeder mechanism for getting hapless Helots into the gulag system that has destroyed tens of millions of lives.

This the same neighbor that openly robs you and threatens you by pulling the lever in the slave booth every year for a new master. In an odd way, voting has much in common with being a snitch for the state.

The national security state can get so confused they end up having their myriad of informants and agents torture and kill each other. More please.

If you review the history of the state and especially the twentieth century mutations that leveraged the happy bow wave of mass bureaucracy, accountancy technology and a sublime willingness for masses of humanity to submit and obey produced the signature collectivist hell-holes like China and the USSR. These in turn spawned many smaller and no less vicious Kafka enclaves that toyed with new ideas that would surprise even George Orwell, the savviest observer of the maximum state in the first fifty years of the twentieth century.

Self deception, blindered observation, confirmation bias and historical amnesia tend to drive the enstupidation in the West that assumes none of this has happened in the US or the West but a careful combing of history proves that the self-delusion is silly in the extreme. The US is no freer in plenty of respects than Stalin’s Russia. His gulag population paled in comparison to the present raw numbers and percentages of caged humans in America in addition to the legions of paroled and probationed victims of the state.

I rarely comment on the electoral races that I do not participate in but the intellectual dimness and psychopathy in all the candidates this year no matter the party proves the wisdom of my decision to abstain. That even the perennially silly Libertarian Party would field two stout statists is telling of the government supremacist temper of the US if not the world.

What’s the difference between the totalitarian Bernie Sander and his co-conspirators in the major parties? Honesty. Every one of them is just as eager to expand the state and wallow in the cynical economic illiteracy that is the accepted contemporary milieu of American rule out of Mordor on the Potomac (if we just get the right person to wear the ring).

Venezuelan Bernie is the perfect flag-bearer for the contemporary Uruk Hai that champion the maximum state.

Lysander Spooner described the politician in the most delicious fashion with his characteristic aplomb and élan:

A traitor is a betrayer – one who practices injury, while professing friendship. Benedict Arnold was a traitor, solely because, while professing friendship for the American cause, he attempted to injure it. An open enemy, however criminal in other respects, is no traitor.

I know I am alone as an abolitionist. Hell, the anarcho-capitalists who are close philosophical cousins of mine are a single digit subset of the libertarian subset in the political spectrum which in and of itself is a small percentage of the American spectrum. Most libertarians are minarchists which is like being an advocate to trim the kudzu but not work to get rid of it.

Advocacy of limited government is much like the fabled social contract carried by Sasquatch riding on the back of the Loch Ness monster in search of the unicorn that will blow the rainbows out of its ass that will make all government just perfect.

Mythological creatures indeed who have the same reality quotient as the earnest limited government stalwarts.

I didn’t sign shit.

“A man’s natural rights are his own, against the whole world; and any infringement of them is equally a crime, whether committed by one man, or by millions; whether committed by one man, calling himself a robber, (or by any other name indicating his true character,) or by millions, calling themselves a government.”

– Lysander Spooner

Well of course in the aftermath of this weekend’s shooting in Orlando, (and the fact that we have way too many news outlets with nothing more to do than incite more fear in this country), there are going to be the usual cries from all corners of the known universe for more gun control, or the other side will call for some type of ban on ‘radical Islam’.

We will have people call this an act of terror, a hate crime, and of course we have the twenty-four hour news cycle with the well placed graphics for the next week,’ Terror in Orlando’, along with the rolling Alert across the bottom of the screen.  It’s seems ridiculous to a guy like me that there could be two ways to report this, but I have already seen that there can be a left-right paradigm for reporting a crime.

And then there’s a guy like me who has removed himself from left-right politics and has a different theory.

I call this a particularly evil act perpetrated on innocent people that had been effectively trained to subcontract their safety to their federal, state and local overlords.  In the world I live in, I have always known that my personal safety is the responsibility on only one person.

My life, liberty and property are not anyone else’s problem, and I would be stupid to think any other way.  I have complete understanding of the scope and sphere of my world, and what I can change within that scope and sphere.  Although I have actually tried to expand my sphere of influence through my radio show, I still understand that throughout the day, no matter what anyone thinks or says, my personal safety is my problem, and in fifty years I have been able to take that task seriously enough to have, other than normal scrapes, cuts and abrasions, (and the standard breakdown of the body from years of overuse) kept myself with all my fingers and toes in a pretty dangerous business.  There is no one at my job-site every day to keep me and my guys safe on a twenty-four hour basis.  I’m supervision and management, so my general theory is I must keep the interest of the company at heart, so as to keep myself employed, and protect the investment and capital of the owner.  But along with that I know that I must protect myself from injury at my job, every minute of every day.

A nightclub was attacked in Orlando, FL this morning leaving nearly 49 dead and a number injured, who knows what these figures will be in the next week. One man with a gun(s) did this. Just one.

It just so happened to be a gay club. But it could have been an octogenarian bingo party or teen rave, the venue may have relevance if it turns out the shooter was motivated by some variation on a human software virus called religion.

I despise analysis of news cycles if they are less than 72 hours old because the facts are fluid and the local authorities are still floating their interpretation of events to benefit their agenda with their media lapdogs in tow.

Here’s what we know and this is subject to change.

Omar Mateen is an American citizen born in New York in 1986 to Afghan parents with a FL issued Concealed Carry Permit and a “guard card” for security guards in the same state. He has been investigated by the FBI an indeterminate number of times. Wait for the authorities to start backtracking and attempting to cook up stories to explain all of the events that led him to legally purchase an handgun and long gun in the past few days.

And a member of the Democratic Party.

I am linking to the National Parrot Radio site to assure the readers that I am being fair and balanced. NPR will broadcast what the government tells them to much like Tokyo Rose (Iva Toguri), Fred Kaltenbach and Axis Sally (Mildred Gillars) during the War to Save Josef Stalin. Whatever swill you hear there will be sure to twist the facts and narrative to advance forward the gun prohibitionist standard.

Not only was it a gun-free restriction zone in the club leaving all the patrons unarmed, much like the popular free-fire zones like government buildings and schools but it apparently had an off-duty Orlando Sheriff’s Deputy in the club. If he is anything like his brethren on the street, he was most likely conveniently away during the shooting to avoid any harm to himself characteristic of the cowardly mindset that informs most police behavior in America today. It appears the Orc collective waited three hours before they moved in but there are literally hundreds of bullet pockmarks apparent on the building and no accounting for the direction the rounds traveled (toward the club).

Where is the cell phone and camera footage from the occupants of the building during and after the shootings took place?

I’m waiting for the usual suspects to crawl out of their gutters and start mewling and caterwauling for “common sense” weapons control and more bans because prohibition and heavy regulation has worked out so well for the rest of the pathologies the government has thought so vital like commerce, illegal vegetation, food and drugs. The whole raft of wildly successful programs sponsored by your betters in Mordor on the Potomac to improve everyone’s quality of life and keep us safe. I am certain the loyal Generals McChrystal and Petraeus will be able to bathe in the blood of the dead to pull the heartstrings of the usual suspects to press for more weapons prohibitions and restrictions.

The cold hard fact is that if more than one person had a gun, this murderer would literally been stopped dead in his tracks but the government will do everything it can to dispel that notion and derail that narrative because once people realize that the trillions stolen from them yearly doesn’t even assure something as basic as the ability to survive an attack, the man behind the curtain quickly reveals what a shabby charlatan he is.

Plenty of other commentators will opine on the finer points of what happened, how it transpired, what drove the young man to such extreme behavior and what ingenious programs the mandarins can devise to ensure it never happens again until your eyes bleed.

Want a common thread? All mass murders take place in places that actively discourage the unregistered and atomistic carrying of weapons. The government enables the conditions that permit mass murder to take place (a rare enough event in the first place). The only solution is unfettered and unregulated access to small arms for the entire population in America.

The state always wins in the aftermath by convincing unarmed people that if the right people were near and the regulations more intrusive, such things would never happen. Yet the weapons prohibition regime in France is demonstrably totalitarian from a gun owners’ perspective and the slaughter was formidable in the Paris attacks 13 November 2015 and Belgium this year. A massacre enabled by the worst elements of society, government.

“War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.”

– J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers

Publisher’s Note:  I published variation of this before last November and it certainly rings true for yet another holiday during the year when we celebrate the use of war and violence to advance the agenda of the American Federal government around the globe.  We are asked to bow our heads in honor of the dead and wounded who gave their service for freedom.  Call me a skeptic.  Individual citizens have never been in graver danger of being fined, kidnapped, caged, maimed and killed by their own government for the most banal of violations or infractions against the imperial power that has wrapped its tentacles around every living soul in the land of the free.  The export of extraterritorial violence does not make a country free, it puts every inhabitant in the hazard as the entire planet has factions enraged, women and children savaged and murdered and entire religious sects chosen for special military attention.

Full disclosure: I am a retired Army officer so I have been there and done that at neo-imperialist shit-pits around the globe.

In this day in 1937, ten innocents Americans were gunned down in cold blood by badged and costumed Orcs in Chicago. Same as it ever was.

Since 1775, there have been approximately 1.35 million deaths and total US casualties of approximately 2.8 million. The deaths could fill a lake with about 1.7 million gallons of blood which could fill a city swimming pool that was 30 feet deep and 275 feet at each side. The deaths on the other side in the belligerent camp are exponentially larger by any standard when once examines the history.

In essence not only are we asked to memorialize conflicts that always manages to strengthen the government’s power on the other side, we are exposed to a constant drumbeat of protecting “our” freedom yet no existential threat to the USSA has existed since the cessation of hostilities with the UK in 1814.

The celebration of Memorial Day should not be about the soldiery, it should be a mass wake and reflection on the untold millions of innocents detained, kidnapped, injured, napalmed, fire-bombed, incinerated, shot, mutilated, tortured and murdered by the barbaric and naked grasping of the American central government for ever-increasing power and control at home and abroad.

Those acres of tombstones are also a fitting symbol to the state of liberty over time in America as a result of the obedient slaves marching to the drumbeat of expanding government…forever. War is nothing more than a dispute between plantation owners who quizzically and cleverly get the Helots to spill their blood to build heavier chains and more effective manacle systems.

A discomforting thought: Many people on this day insist that we should honor the dead and maimed because they thought the crusade they were on was righteous. This is precisely the attitude of many people when it comes to the tsunami of cops abuses on US soil; the badged political social workers are simply doing what they think is right.

There are many heroes in these conflicts like the young helicopter pilot, Hugh Thompson Jr., who positioned his bird between unarmed Vietnamese villagers and an American patrol to protect the innocents from further bloodshed at My Lai.

The only just war is one fought on your soil to defend your own soil. -BB

“Happy Veterans Day and thank you for your service” or “thanks for protecting our freedom.”

What!  I hear this familiar refrain again and again every November.  I am appalled whenever this unthinking salutation is proffered.

I am a retired career Army officer and like USMC General Smedley Butler before me, I find these sentiments to be hogwash.

The only service rendered was to the American political power structure in the dishonorable hands of the Democrats or Republicans; the former, despite their protestations to peace, have gotten America involved in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Starting with the shameful expropriation of the Mexican territory from 1846-48 to the War of Northern Aggression from 1860-65; the United States went into hyper-colonial overdrive in 1893 in the Hawaiian Islands and has not stopped since. The entire history of American arms on Earth has been a shameful and expansionist enterprise culminating in the first ever post-WWII (the Japanese attack on American territories in the Aleutians during the War to Save Josef Stalin and the minor coastal skirmishes in Oregon) attack on American state soil in 2001.  I am frankly astonished at the length of time it took for a substantive attack of any kind to be initiated on American soil with the breadth, ferocity and long sordid history of American mischief and mayhem abroad.

The sheer number of military expeditions the US has embarked on over time is breathtaking.  One worthy notes there have been 234 military expeditions from 1798-1993.  Another posits 159 instances of the use of United States armed forces abroad from October 1945 through December 2006.

“This list does not include covert actions and numerous instances of US forces stationed abroad since World War II, in occupation forces, or for participation in mutual security organizations, base agreements, and routine military assistance or training operations.”

Good God, if I were a Martian who landed on Earth ten years ago and found myself attending government schools, to include college, and watching television for any additional cultural education,  I would not be aware of any of this.  The constant drumbeat emanating from the State is the Orwellian chorus about America making the world safe for freedom and liberty and never using force abroad except in self-defense.  The history proves otherwise.

America, next to Rome in the Western world, ranks as one of the world’s most aggressive nation states when one examines the evidence.  A country sheltered from the tempestuous and constant warring on the European continent by one ocean and the turbulence in Asia by another ocean yet it simply cannot mind its own business nor resist the temptation to maim and murder abroad for expansion of political power and control whether for mercantile or colonial aspirations.

Voting is not only a childish abdication of individual responsibility but a declaration of war on your neighbor.
In this way the faux adult can give a Gallic shrug if the “new” psychopath turns out to be the same as the previous four thousand years of plunder, caging and murder.
Don’t want a master,? Get the leash out of your mouth…
Wake the fuck up.
