Communism is a human neurological software virus. As Christopher Hitchens wrote in 2007 in “God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything”:
“When I was a Marxist, I did not hold my opinions as a matter of faith, but I did have the conviction that a sort of unified field theory might have been discovered. The concept of historical and dialectical materialism was not an absolute, and it did not have any supernatural element, but it did have its messianic element in the idea that an ultimate moment might arrive, and it most certainly had its martyrs and saints and doctrinaires and (after a while) its mutually excommunicating rival papacies. It also had its schisms and inquisitions and heresy hunts. I was a member of a dissident sect, which admired Rosa Luxemburg and Leon Trotsky, and I can say definitely that we also had our prophets…Those of us who had a sort of rational alternative for religion had reached a terminus which was comparably dogmatic.”
As Arthur Koestler wrote in the seminal “The God That Failed”:
“Something had clicked in my brain, which shook me like a mental explosion. To say that one had ‘seen the light’ is a poor description of the mental rapture which only the convert knows…The new light seems to pour from all directions across the skull; the whole universe falls into a pattern like the stray pieces of a jigsaw puzzle assembled by magic at one stroke. There is now an answer to every question, doubts and conflicts are a matter of the tortured past.”
C.K. Ryan recently penned this gem:
“These days, when I see that copy of “Das Kapital “on my shelf, my mind turns not to its author, but to Socrates. For during my years as a Marxist, I lost touch with the philosopher’s greatest insight: “I neither know nor think I know.” Socrates was the smartest man in Athens because he recognized his ignorance. It is perhaps the oldest lesson that philosophy has to teach us, yet so many of us have forgotten it.”
Political cults are caravans to mass graves and fortunately all politics has a shelf life, some folks just like to put the pedal to the metal when it comes to scrambling over the ideological cliff for their masters.
The current infantcide cavalcade is yet another unmasking of the true intentions of the communists as they press ahead with their evil agenda. Just ask them one question: …if your moral framework allows you to maim, dismember and murder the most innocent, vulnerable and defenseless among us, what exactly does your moral compass stop you from doing?
Burn this into your skulls and sear it into your brain: the quaint term “Deep State” is nothing more than a civilized synonym for communism.
Manhood is the sole brake on communism whether you like it or not. My friend Boston does a brilliant disquisition on this.
Pleasant dreams, Helots. -BB
I am enjoying the mass exodus from supporting the cretins at Benchmade.
Like the Billion Dollar PR lesson for United Airlines when they dragged a paying passenger off a plane, Benchmade out of Oregon yelled “hold my beer” and tried to practice some extreme of backwards customer service.
Of course, the airlines continue the practice. On domestic airlines , you’re an inmate, on international flights with foreign flagged airlines you are still treated like a paying customer.
Anyway, I wonder at how many more “tacticool” companies are snickering like the commies at BM at taking money from the gun and knife enthusiasts and supporting government weapons-grabbing collectivists with the proceeds.
Funny how their fondling of coproach genitalia led to the discovery of their political donations. Don’t they know that fraternizing with the police never advances freedom? But then again, serendipity can be a bitch for commies in patriotic drag.
I am underwhelmed by BM quality and own very few. Benchmade has had rotten QC for the last decade or so. Off-center blades, wobbly locks, breaking springs, gaps between bolsters/scales/back-spacers, asymmetrical grinds and edge bevels. And they take the moniker of “handmade” to a new fabricated level. And you pay a high price for these.
I wish folks with time on their hands would do the public records research to see what these collectivist vermin are donating to. We know that the geniuses at Bag of Dicks and Leatherman have been worshiping at the disarmament altar for awhile. Leatherman, Gerber, CRKT, Kershaw/ZT, and Benchmade are all produced near the Portland area and Zero Tolerance knives have been my top pick for years for a quality folder. I do hope revelations don’t reveal a government supremacist contagion in the water there that turns knife businesses into communist pod combines.
I always wonder at the curious phenomenon of a tool or outdoor company thinking that socialist justice virtue signalling will garner more sales. How many of the soi-boi legions actually spend the money on the middle-tier knife offerings like Benchmade?
Sort of like the other C-Suite vermin at the aforementioned companies spitting in the faces of their own clientele like Dick’s and Field and Stream...
At least we know as crazy as Lynn Thompson is, Cold Steel will never go full Benchmade. You never go full Benchmade.
Maybe we’ll discover in a curious moment of enlightened seppuku they donated to the Labor commies in the UK to help ban knives too.
Benchmade: “Another feature people love but don’t really use is the lifetime warranty and sharpening.”
Free markets have so many attributes that make them adaptable and ultimately superior to government when it comes to quality goods and services. You choose who you support.
Can everyone just break the knives and call on the lifetime warranty? Asking for a friend…
PSA for Benchmade: BFYTW.
As Pete says at WRSA: “Stop spending your money with businesses that want you dead.”
Buyer beware…
Dumbasses.

Not defending Benchmade, but most companies donate to the local pols who can impact their lives – all part of being a “good citizen”. As a for instance all Federal contracts have a box on the award form showing which Congressional Districts are going to be getting any of the money, which is why no major contract gets awarded to ONE location. The smart play is to spread the coin around as much as able.
As for Oregon, a beautiful state where I am happy I no longer reside, the North Central counties of Multnomah (Portland), Clackamas and Washington swing VERY Left, and are populated enough to swing the entire state. Buying off Dems is the ONLY game in the state West of the Cascades. Until Richardson was elected Secretary of State in 2016 no Republican had won statewide office since 2002.
If Portland would sink, the place would be back to beautifully Libertarian Right in a year. Damned Hipsters ruin everything.
I understand your logic but I don’t think the companies that sleep with communists understand the implications for their business. It’s like gun manufacturers locating in NYC and greasing the palms of local pols thinking that the local collectivists will have an epiphany about commerce, freedom and small arms.
You will also note they chose to donate to Bolshevik politicos even outside the state of OR.
And these revelations only surfaced after they fellated the local coproaches by destroying weapons for them like good serfs.
You are defending Benchmade.
This is how they learn.
That does not explain their donating money to the likes of Patty Murray D Washington or Ed Markey D Masshole. It also does not explain the lopsided donations to Democraps and zero to Republicans. Face it, the owner of the company is a “leftist” or “liberal” or whatever you want to call it. He apparently does not believe in the US Constitution as written. He got found out. People don’t like supporting their fascist would be oppressors. You better believe this one thing. Anyone wanting to take guns from the people, so only government has guns, are fascist. No more Benchmade knives for me.
Ward, Vic, NOG, James, Jim and Indy,
Thanks for your adroit comments, I have gotten several curious emails trying to smooth over the Benchmade fiasco and rationalize their misbehavior and the greater sin here is the serendipitous discovery of the donation ledger favoring CPUSA. Historically, this happens in “brink” countries on the precipice of greater and greater government until the tipping point turns the country into a Venezuelan celebration of economic illiteracy, amorality and bloodshed by well-intentioned bureaucrats and apparatchiks.
Yes indeed, their warranty program should be used. I would be happy to buy used worn out BM knives and send them in for refurbishment. None of those proceeds in the purchase go to the corporate goblins at BM.
Buy a blade made by a Warrior

No problem. Never thought much of Benchmade. Now I’ll think even less. Cold Steel, Chris Reeve and Idaho Knife Works are my go-to for EDC.
When I was in the hospital I could not urinate while lying down. Benchmade has p1ssed all over themselves – straight up and straight down. Now I know how it’s done.
I have long believed that social justice warriors are too foolish to survive. Certainly in a world where gun bans are being followed by knife bans, any knife maker attacking gun ownership is a fool. They should look up “sword hunt” on wikipedia or some other terrible web site of their choosing. But being fools, they won’t. I heartily endorse the lifetime warranty and sharpening approach. These are people who deeply, richly deserve to be in another line of work.
I pray to the flying spagetti monster that Spyderco never goes over to the dark side. I might have to slit my wrists. But with what?!
Just buy COLD STEEL.
Problems solved.
The rest of these overpriced and crappy knife companies can suk my dik.
CRKT/Gerber/Kershaw/leatherman… ALL of them.
I can forge a better blade in my basement and can throw ANY bladed weapon.
Come get them and Molon Labe.

I have long used leatherman tools. they have always done what i need. so can you steer me toward a good replacement multi tool.
I dont like to deal with traitors so any help is appreciated.
There is occasion here to buy used and then you don’t give a dime to the original hoplophobic producer. Hell, use the warranty to give you a better tool and they pay the freight.
Well color me a dumb ass.
That is as simple as it is brilliant
Sun Tzu and all that stuff. Economic jujitsu.
Thank you and I will use!
Benchmade knives, meet Gillette razors.
They’re only sorry they got caught.
I thought Tom Gresham’s interview with Benchmade was very telling.

Hi Bill, I’m still butt hurt over this knuckle headed ideology. I’m not opposed to other brand knives, in fact I own many. Honestly I’m not even sure why im butt hurt. I follow your writings as they come out. I usually agree with the majority of thoughts.
I think I’m angered that your ” head hunting” an American success story, a decent product. I’ve gifted ALL of my nieces nephews wife, daughter, sons and other relatives with Benchmade knives. Their all at least twelve years old, so I can’t speak to the quality of the newer knives.
Are we to the point that we. Are now doing political searches of/on the tools we buy, rather then seeking quality.
Are we to the point that simply buying American is no longer the right thing to do.?
We buy ak 47s, from communist Marxist and socialist countries, yet nobody makes an issue of it.
We buy cheap ammo from those same countries.
It’s very common for our side to utilize communist products from China, Russia, and all the others. It’s a matter of quality reliability and costs.
Bill where do we draw the line, it’s a question, Im Asking you to answer.
Sir. I understand the basic premise of the position. I’m just not interested in doing the research in political positions when I purchase stuff. I’m looking for quality and value. If I were to conduct political research on top quality products, I’d have perhaps hours involved. I’m sorry I want a most excellent product, I don’t need an review on their politics.
What if the folks who built your house, or your car were DEMs, left wing.?
I’m being dramatic ! But I think my example illustrates my point , my question to you.
Lastly, as you once reminded me, if we all agreed what would the point of blogs such as this be?.
Bill keep up the good work, and sorry I’m sometimes a fly in the ointment.
I’m just not a follower, and I dam sure don’t want to be a leader.
Have a good one.
