Men and Weapons: The Quality of Refusal by Bill Buppert

“The knight is a man of blood and iron, a man familiar with the sight of smashed faces and the ragged stumps of lopped-off limbs; he is also a demure, almost maidenlike, guest in a hall, a gentle, modest, unobtrusive man. He is not compromise or happy mean between ferocity and meekness; he is fierce to the nth and meek to the nth. The man who combines both characters – the knight – is not a work of nature but of art; of that art which has human beings, instead of canvas or marble, for its medium.”

C.S. Lewis

“These are the figures of steel whose eagle eyes dart between whirling propellers to pierce the cloud; who dare the hellish crossing through fields of roaring craters, gripped in the chaos of tank engines … men relentlessly saturated with the spirit of battle, men whose urgent wanting discharges itself in a single concentrated and determined release of energy.

As I watch them noiselessly slicing alleyways into barbed wire, digging steps to storm outward, synchronizing luminous watches, finding the North by the stars, the recognition flashes: this is the new man. The pioneers of storm, the elect of central Europe. A whole new race, intelligent, strong, men of will … supple predators straining with energy. They will be architects building on the ruined foundations of the world.”

Publisher’s Note: Happy Birthday, Lysander Spooner, the patron saint of this site.

“Lysander Spooner (1808–1887) is the American individualist anarchist and legal theorist known mainly for setting up a commercial post office in competition with the government and thereby being shut down. But he was also the author of some of the most radical political and economic writings of the 19th century, and continues to have a huge influence on libertarian thinkers today. He was a dedicated opponent of slavery in all its forms — even advocating guerrilla war to stop it — but also a dedicated opponent of the federal invasion of the South and its postwar reconstruction. See Let’s Abolish Government, a collection selected personally by Murray Rothbard as Spooner’s best work.”

Had a great visit with my youngest son, on leave from his posting in Okinawa. Ironically, his first duty station is where was born when I was stationed Torii Station with 1-1 SFG(A). A little sad he is gone but rotates back to the state before the end of the year.

I am also thankful that all three of my boys are chock-full of toxic masculinity and a stirring rebuke to the APA assault on civilizational standards of manhood.

Fuck them.

Here’s what we know: outside of the southern United States which started going after disarmament notions to control black access to guns way before the Federal government stepped in it in 1934 with the infamously ill-conceived National Firearms Act, the US started conducting a low-level three-pronged war (the Executive nodding sagely at the Legislature as they pass bill after bill narrowing and restricting access to firearms by non-government humans and the Federal Courts rubber-stamping odious restriction after odious restriction) against private weapons ownership.

This jobs program for Volstead Amendment enforcers in the Treasury Department was followed by these gems of legislation and judicial brilliance in the 1938 FFA, 1939 US v. Miller, 1968 OCC & SSA and GCA, 1986 FOPA, Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988, Gun-Free School Zones Act (1990), Brady Act (1993), AWB (1994), on and on and on.

Comrade Reagan made a guest appearance when he disarmed California pedestrians with the 1967 Mulford Act after the Black Panthers made him fill his pants when he was busy building a giant bureaucratic state (hiking taxes and legalizing infanticide among other things) in Sacramento and they happened to show up bearing arms at his house of ill-repute in the Governor’s office.

You will note that no such restrictions have emerged for the possession of weapons by our zookeepers in the government. If anything, these hubristic Orcs have accelerated the deployment of arms and munitions to countless agencies. Anyone that wants you disarmed wants to control and/or kill you, usually in that sequence depending on your level of resistance.

My readership know my position on firearms laws and the Second Amendment. My latest screed can be found here. I have written many other jeremiads against the violence brokers in the government.

“Every one of these infringements is legally stamped and approved by the Federal government tentacled agencies and robed government employees.

Every one of these infringements is an abridgement of your de jure and de facto right to defend you and yours.

Every one of these would have been a sufficient causus belli for the festivities at Lexington Green on 19 April 1775 and every one of these is a violation of the intent and spirit of the Declaration of Independence for which the Constitution was the tombstone.”

The Second Amendment is dead if it even survived the beginning of the twentieth century when state after state, especially in the south started regulating the fuck out of firearms possession by private citizens while ratcheting up the armories of government employees as exemplified by the Federal Prohibition agents and the infamous beating and bloodying of thousands of WWI pensioners during the Bonus March in 1932.

The aforementioned list of legislative and judicial nonsense in concert with the establishment of sadistic and ill-tempered agencies like the BATFE and all Federal “law enforcement” agencies cements the case that the 2A is merely an inconvenience to the zookeepers presently lording over the host of taxpayers living on the vast American plantation. In case you’ve been living in a cave, you will note the tens of thousands of incidents where the 19,000 law imposement organizations peppering the landscape maimed and killed thousands with government guns.

So here is where it leaves you: you have an Offal Office occupant whose roots are that of a crony capitalist in the Mussolini style of state corporatism melded to a hybrid Northeastern progressive steeped in the soft communist marinade of a New Yorker. Once you grok this, all of his behavior and spinelessness on weapons ownership makes sense.

He imposes a bump stock ban (much cheaper to employ a rubber band than waste your money on that Rube Goldberg contraption) as feel-good nonsense to prove to his supplicants he is doing something. He infamously talked about his enthusiasm for “red flag” laws which are an affront to due process but in the “just-us” system, that is a pipe dream. His co-conspirators (whether they acknowledge it or not since the Republicans are the Mensheviks to the Democrat’s Bolshevik) lurch toward full communism and he happily passes budgets that would make the most ardent democratic socialist blush with envy.

As with most things the Federal government does, this is yet another declaration of war against what should certainly be a private means of defense. The government has already instantiated that the vast coproach armies the Anti-Federalists warned us about are not obligated to protect you in any way from private harm (much less government harm).

“The claim arises from the actions of Cruz, a third party, and not a state actor. Thus, the critical question the Court analyzes is whether defendants had a constitutional duty to protect plaintiffs from the actions of Cruz.

“As previously stated, for such a duty to exist on the part of defendants, plaintiffs would have to be considered to be in custody.”

This was just reinforced by the latest declaration of a robed government employee when discussing the normally cowardly behavior of badged Orcs when their lives are really in danger (a rare occurrence).

So let’s get this straight, the coproach infestations that appear to have a license to kill with no repercussions have no obligation whatsoever to protect the very subjects they forcibly extract their salaries and equipment from to lord over like an occupation army. Yet these same armed Leninists and their Chief mouthpieces constantly talk about the new disarmament schemes so their well-fed (most obese “profession” in America) uniformed thugs can go home at the end of their shift. By the way, police have always been overweight.

Mind you, I thank the Gods everyday that the police in America are fat, ill-disciplined and shabby marksmen by trade. Odin knows that the twenty thousand Americans killed by cops since the beginning of this century may have murdered far more in numbers if not so imept and cravenly stupid.

And there is a reason that PoliceOne shut down non-member access to their comments section years ago so that the mundanes wouldn’t see how the cops view the very people they punish and suppress.

So what to do in what appears to be an interregnum of non-stop violations and legislative fiat against private weapons ownership:

  • First rule of gun club: don’t talk about gun club
  • Buy weapons (off paper if possible)
  • Buy ammo (a minimum of 10k rounds per caliber)
  • Train like your life depends on it (because it does) and get to the range where you can move and shoot (Fudds will fill their pants)
  • Drop all your memberships in the NRA, GOA and the other unicorn-hunting clubs; spend your money on resources and training
  • Dry fire like a motherfucker
  • Get proper holsters and wear your weapons all the time (even at home)
  • Get proper slings you train with; the sling is the ring of rifle power
  • Master weapons optics
  • Scatter the locations of all your weapons holdings
  • Read Unintended Consequences
  • Read the history of irregular warfare, take notes and improvise
  • Keep your mouth shut
  • Last rule of gun club: don’t talk about gun club

The list goes on…

The next conflict will not be fought in five thousand dollars worth of the latest tacti-cool kit from Gucci manufacturers like Dead Bird and Crye; it will be “suit and tie”, bone up on Michael Collins wear.

Read about the exploits of the “yellow vests” in France and the ongoing destruction of speeding cameras throughout France and the implications for surveillance modalities in the US.

Why are the usual suspects now targeting rifles?

I haven’t even touched on all the logical inconsistencies of going after rifles which are a fraction of handgun and bludgeoning deaths annually in America. I’d be pleased to see a detailed breakdown of how many AR rifles, let alone semi-automatic rifles, have been used in killing whether accidental (hunting) or malicious.

But then again.

Why bother, you cannot reason the unreasonable out of positions they employed no logic to get to in the first place. I’ve done the research but now I am much better investing my limited time in ensuring my weapons capability is increased in proficiency and my equipment is optimized.

They are going after cosmetically offensive weapons for one reason they dare not voice: if you wish to turn your country into a aspirational communist abbatoir based on envy, economic illiteracy, secular messianism and a Marxian death cult, you must disarm all the potential corpses to make your dreams come true.

The hard-core adherents have simply leveraged narratives that mask the true intention.

Make it hard. No one is coming to save you. No one.

Resist.

Rinse and repeat.

“We are, each of us, alone. And this is the first law of masculinity. And it is the most important law. Your value is equal to the value which you bring to the tribe. We are not equal. You are not special. Respect is earned, not given. Your brothers will not love you unconditionally for who you are, just being yourself. They will criticise you, push you to your limits, bring out the best in you, and give you their respect when earned. And this isn’t shocking at all. This is common knowledge to any man. Your childhood is over. The boy is dead. It’s time to be a man for the rest of your life.”

  1. Bill, take what you’rr saying seriously. I designed and am building the first prototype of a weapon, actually have two designs. One is a .50cal Browning single shot, and what is under fabrication currently is a 12 gauge automatic with a built in vertical ammo tray, like a box mag, but part of the weapons system, calling it a double column “feed tray” which holds 25 shells. It swings out and you hand feed it as you choose, no big honking shotshell mags taking up valuable MOLLE real estate on you combat vest or battle belt: (a great ready reloading system is these nifty Shotshell cards with velcro backing, Slap one on your weapon or vest for quick access, store loaded cards in magazine pouches.

Fantastic KISS concept. Here they are: https://www.skdtac.com/Esstac-Shotgun-Card-p/ess.106.htm

The idea is to produce a very rugged super-reliable combat 12gauge weapon for a very reasonable cost so everyone can afford it. Same with the .50 cal long range single shot. I got my work cut out for me on that. But the basic concept laid out.

My 45 year trade and career as an Aerospace and motorsports welder/fabricator/machinist in ridged tube technology provides me with multi generations of metal fab technology processes and techniques, Because of this wide-ranging experience, I think I have come up with a simple ingenious low materiel cost design using chrome moly-tubing and chrome moly machined or sheetmetal parts using simple weldments and as many off the shelf AR platform bits as possible.

No sense in “reinventing the wheel”. right.

I’m really pumped about the 12ga, It uses a gas stupid rugged basic gas impingement/locking pin bolt, mostly all chrome moly steel tube construction, with some aluminum low stressed parts. Even the prototype design in has very low materiel costs, (so far less than a basic mil spec AR15 built from parts) simple non CNC machine, though it can be done with CNC,. 12 gauge 23/4 inch Buck or Slugs only, “KISS” principle, aka keep it simple stupid.

The idea is to produce it in 80% Kit Form, if you have basic GTAW (TIG) or gas welding skills, a lathe and a drill press files etc, its a home workshop build. Though most if not all can be done without a lathe.

First I have to get a fully functional weapon working, Test the shit out of it, modify what breaks, then refine the fabrication for the crafty guy to build himself.

Its a really nasty mean all business no BS looking weapon, no holds barred, 25 round auto shotgun. No frills. Made to survive any abuse type weapon. A weapon so ugly and mean its beautiful.

I’m not in this to make money. I really want to shove all this stupid fucking ruling class bullshit right up the motherfuckers arses. Make enough to cover expenses and a little extra so I can produce other weapons under the same criteria.

Way I see it, we all got to do our part and find ways to help each other out or in no uncertain terms we are fucked. I been doing many things to “Pay It Forward” within the “Honorable Resistance”, it is with great satisfaction I might add.

They want to fuck around with us? So be it. That shit is like tracers, they work both ways.

  2. Armed Americans are too busy pissing their pants over the phony threat of Muslims to wake up to Enemy #1, their own government.

    1. +100
Been talking myself silly trying to wake people up, they’ll look in every other direction possible, except at Washington D.C./Wall Street.

Just the fear of an IRS audit sends them scurrying like little cockroaches in fear of FedGov, yet brag like a gorilla how tough they are. If you can’t stand up for yourself today, you sure won’t do it tomorrow.

Why have confrontation today when you can kick the can down the road indefinitely? Vote for more time? We’re losing time every single day we postpone, it’s not going to get easier the longer this goes on. We already know the inevitable result, where this is headed, but for most denial is a weapon against their own inner cowardice.

    2. Contrarian View

No, the Muslims are a real threat, too. The Left supports them because they have a common enemy (us) but the naive Demorat Leftists foolishly think that their Muslim “allies” will be their friends and clients once the Left controls the .gov. But the Muslims laugh quietly and say, “We like you…we will kill you last.”

      1. The Muslims are merely a tool put into play by our own gov’t. They use them wherever needed, whether to wage war overseas or to displace us on our home ground.
Wake up and see the real enemy, not what they want you to see.

        1. When there is a sufficient minimum of Muslims in your country, they will change from the good worker/friendly peaceful Muslim into the politically-active Muslim, then politics becomes violence, the birthrate dwarfs the locals and Islam wins in less than 3 generations.

          1. JACKPOT – you win the door prize sir — I’ve been telling half-wit friends and family members that for a long time as well as the real enemy behind the curtain: the globo-homo-zio-usurist menace that propogates the influx of ALL 3rd worlder/dirt people/parasites

  4. I seem to recall reading that something like half or thereabouts of deaths in our imperial wars are caused by IED’s and VBIED’s.This seems about right…

My company lost 5 guys killed in Iraq in 2005, all to IED’s,and most of the brigades deaths were IED’s, the rest from gunshots and RPG and such.

Guys with shovels, no guns insight, were planting bombs alongside roads and giving us hell.

    1. I’ve seen similar ideas but one thing that is never brought up is that heavy munitions like mines, artillery shells, and high explosives are everywhere in the more chaotic parts of the world.

It becomes a bit harder to blow up an MRAP when the most dangerous material you’ve got available is gasoline.

Yes, all kinds of goodies are potentially acquirable if you work really hard, take many risks, and know your shit about chemistry and engineering. But the black market in the US is really only good for serial numberless pistols and heroin.

      1. Re the Iraqis use of IED’s, it’s a tool they adopted to fight us, all weapons are just tools, the human mind is the real weapon .Iraqis used what was available to them, same with the Afghans.

Hell, the Viet Minh started their fight with the US with next to nothing for weapons and over time were able to build up a goodly stock of captured American weapons.

  5. Fantastic article, your ” points” are interesting.. Are you saying that men is suits armed with pistols are the way local warfare shall be fought in our near future? I love love love, your observations on the Gucci gun gear. Lke a freak show anymore.

After years like 20/30 years of not purchasing or even reviewing the latest stack of gun books or mags on the market. World of Firepower, purchased one this past Saturday. Was like a soap opera. After all those years, I read for a few minutes and was caught up.

Wanted to puke. The male models, the Gucci crap these Warriors were wearing was the latest the industry has to offer. The ” experts” in their made up with combat cream face paint, and over priced digital clothing, looked like a bunch of fucking retards, trying to look hard.

The amount of cool guy shit for the m-4 rifle is staggering, there’s so much stuff, 90% of it has zero application. I’m not in the market for a m4 receiver which is also a ” tactical” can opener. Sadly the tacticool crowd snaps this shit up, without thought.

While I don’t agree with everything, I at least understand the why part.

Lastly you suggest 10k rounds per caliber? Or per weapon. A reasonable number of projectiles to have around. In your world what is your bare minimum mags per fighting rifle. Carry and stash, if you don’t mind.

If you don’t mind sharing your thoughts.

    Dirk

    1. Hey Dirk,

Thanks for stopping by the tavern.

10k per caliber (mix your FMJ and JHP as you see fit). I do not do so for lower density ammunition holdings like .300 AAC BLK and .338 LM.

100 mags per rifle [caliber specific] platform whether you have one or ten ARs

50 mags per pistol [caliber specific] platform whether you have one or ten Glocks

To be clear, if you have 3x Glocks in the same claiber, 50 will serve all three as a minimum basic load. Want more, buy them. I even have a cache of “donor” mags.

You have 1 or 2 or 10 ARs, 100 is a basic load for all.

      Magazines are expandable items.

      1. Thanks Bill, I’m long on rifles, short on mags. Have 20 per m4 and 200 new in bag magpul’s.

Back to.stocking ammo, huge push on my .308. Ammo Right now. Between FN’sand G3’s,.

Was rambling around in the garage and re discovered two FN kits from the mid 80s, and two G-3 kits. I didn’t know I had them. Along with a box of ask stuff, enough to put three together., plus lots of,spares.

I’m a dump pouch user. Very practical piece of kit. I’m way short on pistol mags, via your numbers. I’m on it.

Thank you, have a great night.

        Dirk

  6. 100 magazines per rifle? Holy Crackers! I have only have 15 per rifle. Looks like it’s time to go shopping!

  7. I started having drapetomania in 1979. Joined a group against registration and the draft. Got my first rifle, started visiting the gun ranges, and been prepping ever since. Everything you say makes perfect sense, Bill.

“Some of you have been breaking the first and last rules of gun club.”

    1. Jim, I saw it as my duty, to volunteer for the military. was a good little statist. I keep relapsing these days. Trying to find that balance which is reasonable, to maintain keeping retards off my back.

You see I still believe voting is a valuable tool. Recent example, you without guns ammo, and didn’t vote, have nobody to blame but yourselves. I pray your stacking tall pre bills going to be introduced.

Not knocking your right to not vote, just saw this past vote as a tactical one. Saw the outcome, and recognize that it didn’t have to end like it did.

That’s that statist in me, but I already have my tools in place.

Which is why I was asking Bill about Pistols and men in suits. I’ve not ran that scenario, from experience I know bringing a pistol to a gun fights not in my best interests. I live on a mountain amoung heavily armed very polite folk.

I’m low on pistol, mags. I see Bills logic, and agree that it’s in my best interest to have 50 to 100 per weapon. Example, I’m a .45 acp guy, have been since the early 70s. Like 1911s, all use the same mags. I have many of the McCormick super spring 10 rounders. I’ll purchase another 30 of those mags, I like ten rounders and the mags are quality built.

My Glocks are 21s and 30s. Same mags for both. I’ve got a lot, but not fifty. I’ll remedy that before summers here. Right now my focus is .308 ammo, I don’t quiet have 10k, which is the goal. Actually 12k.

I’m may be back for thirdsees, I read Bill, because Bill’s writings make me think thru my shit, why exactly I do what I do. After thirty years of doing this, I’ve become complacent. Timing isn’t good for complacency!!!

      Dirk

  9. Great article Bill as usual. I want to thank you for your dedication and knowledge sharing, especially for we younger/newer AnCaps. I know I’m kind of breaking number one, but I have questions and don’t have anyone to ask.

    1. Do you suggest any good firearms schools? I live in North Idaho, I know about Mosby, but because he is a recluse he has no schedule and just doesn’t seem to have a professional operation. I have no doubt of his awesome instructing ability, I have almost all his books, read his articles, and have followed him for years. But for training he just isn’t regular enough or doesn’t know how to advertise. I would prefer not to travel outside of ID or at least no further than the immediately surrounding states. I have some basics down and have taken courses in other states, but I want to get more serious and REALLY get the fundamentals down. Reading a books is good and all, but it isn’t live in instruction with someone seeing your body position and making micro adjustments.

    2. I have a couple M&P 15 Sports, I know, they are considered low end, but I have heard a lot of people shoot them all the time with thousands of rounds and have no complaints. With that said, can you think of any upgrades (specific brands and models) I can make to the firearms?

    3. I live on 7 acres of forested property in the hills, if I can’t move firearms off the property do you make suggestions about not keeping them in one place?

    4. Do you suggest long range rifles? I don’t have any disillusion of being a sniper, but there is a ridge right behind our house about 500 yards out the bottoms our to the bottom of our hilly property. I know an AR can make it, but I’m thinking something that can reach out further and still have the hitting power. If anything for area denial. I was told by someone else I respect (former SF) that a M1A is a great choice, but I also have heard a lot of good things about the M&p 10, but I’m afraid of all the issues people have with AR10s. I want something semi auto and with a detachable magazine.

    5. What kind of sling do you suggest?

    6. I have Glock 19s, do you suggest any upgrades for them?

    7. What ammo suggest do you make for each common caliber .223/5.56, .308, 9mm? I was thinking about HP, possibly HP-BT for everything I can get.

I am not a buy stuff and pretend I’m going to play guy. I’m all about learning skills, integrating them in every day life, becoming more self sufficient, and going back and getting repeat training. I just want to make sure the tools I buy are quality, reliable, possibly repairable, and durable. Especially once I hit my 30s my wife an I moved to a model of saving for quality instead of Walmart specials. Everything has a purpose. Anyway, thanks again!

    – Devin

    1. Devin,

That is a tall order for a Q&A so excuse me if I am brief in my responses.

      1. Appleseed, find it and attend (regularly). Firearms Academy of Seattle, I took a number of courses there years ago and they seem to still be going strong. Modern Samurai (Jedi) is one of my favorite instructors right now. No BS and practical tactical.

      2. Upgrades for an AR: Only limited by your budget: ALG ACT trigger, Magpul UBR stock, extended mag release and bolt release, and a solid steel BUIS. You should spend the same on optics as the rifle for the most part. I do think that Vortex delivers a solid product for the price and quality (there is no limit to what you can spend on glass. I use American Defense QD mounts for all my guns including my Remington 700s. Invest in boresnakes and 25guage needle bottles.

Do Not Over lubricate the AR, it does not need it.

Older article but a testament: http://www.slip2000.com/blog/s-w-a-t-magazine-filthy-14/

During my time in AFG and around the world, I have seen filthy military rifles that continued to operate.

      3. Bury them, geolocate and store the coordinates somewhere.

      4. AR10s have the maturity to perform now if you build it correctly. Bolt guns are terrific for beyond 500m but you have to ensure you can even shoot that far. My friend, Boston T. Party, has a savvy analysis on the genetic gifts it takes to shoot at those distances esp beyond 1000m. Long distance shooting done properly is a very expensive and time consuming avocation involving expensive optics, hand crafted ammo, range time, DOPEing (w/ Kestrels),

      More to follow…

      1. 5. What kind of sling do you suggest?

Magpul MS4 but a friend uses VTAC and loves it, your slings should be identical for all weapons except the specialized slings for the 1000m+. Peruse my site and you’ll see where I have written some sling essays.

        6. I have Glock 19s, do you suggest any upgrades for them?

Minimum four mods: Aftermarket metal F&R sights, plenty to choose from, extended slide release, grip plug (Vickers plug w/ takedown tool) and stainless steel guide rod. There are add’l mods I have made to mine but be careful of aftermarket aluminum triggers that may damage the frame.

        7. What ammo suggest do you make for each common caliber .223/5.56, .308, 9mm? I was thinking about HP, possibly HP-BT for everything I can get.

I discussed earlier in the month on basic load for calibers. For pistol, your social work loads like JHP should be one in ten (e.g., 1k of your 10k basic load for calibers should be JHP or defense loads and the rest FMJ for training and maintenance of proficiency). FMJ for rifles s but HP-BT are optimal for .30 caliber (.308, .338, etc) centerfire weapons. I get my ammo from SGAmmo above all others.

Chime in with new questions if you have any.

I highly suggest you buy Boston’s Gun Bible.

I cannot recommend the M1A ( requires depot level maintenance and tighter tolerances in Match and Super Match variants make them very finicky in the field) and not the FN-FAL (old technology surpassed by AR10 configurations).

  10. Bill, the boys over on WRSA, are doing a get together July 19, in Cody Wy.

I’ve taken the liberty of throwing your name in the hat as a guest speaker!!!!, you can thank me lol.

Bill your mind fascinates me, the way you think, what you see, how you do it; ” whatever it, is”

I suggested you, and Bracken. If Pete contacts you, please graciously accept. Hoping to see you in Cody.

  12. I’ve really enjoyed this article. Forgive me, but which “Unintended Consequences” are you referring to? Looking I see about a hundred different books by this name. Who is the author?
    Thanks.
