If you read the last sentence of von Mises quote above, it parallels what passes for “wokeness” today.
Replace all the white and whiteness talk with the word Jew or black and step into a time machine back to the 1930s in Germany or the American South respectively and things ring very familiar. The Mises quote is quite good. I’ve often thought that the current so called “Nazis” are more jealous of the Jew than anything. On the one hand they say the Jews this and the Jews that, but their political, economic, and world alignment are precisely that which they say is bad in a Jew. Unfortunately, anyone that has passed through government schools believes this nonsense. Hopefully, someday the government schools (indoctrination centers) will be defunded. Please show me in the thirteen states Ordinances of Secession where the preservation of chattel slavery is not the number one concern. Eight of the thirteen are explicit. By all rights, the Union was a house of cards that deserved to be dismembered but it is disingenuous to think slavery was not a big part. Lincoln was a tyrannical monster but the South responded in a fashion that simply aided his campaign to destroy individual liberty in American and put us all on the plantation.

There is no cause of the Civil War which did not have to do with slavery or was not inextricably linked to slavery. Read Alexander Stephens’ “Cornerstone” speech. He states plainly that the foundational ideas of the confederacy were black inequality and black slavery.
I scratch my head at right thinking people making excuses for the horrific excesses of the Democratic Party in the South in the 19th century.

In years past, largely when I held onto minarchism, I gave a free pass to much of the Southern government and plantation class. I soon realized that neither were commendable in any manner.
It has been said that the reasons for secession largely revolved around slavery issues, and in fact, despite popular myth that the South was ALL about nullification, one of the big grievances of the time was refusal of some northern states to enforce the fugitive slave law. It is also true that the invasion of the South was largely revolving around Lincoln’s infatuation with the Bloody Union and central state rule of the entire country.

The Nazis fought the Communists/Antifa on the streets of Germany and later on the battlefield. Meanwhile America fought with them against the German National Socialism. Capitalism (in its late stage) and Communism are both globalist and centralized in character. Thus they united against Nationalism then as they do now.

I’m sure you and I will disagree but my reading of the Constitution allows for any state to leave the union, as the states were sovereign and could revoke their rights given to the Federal Govt at any time.
Lincoln did NOT view slavery as an issue to justify his invasion. It was only AFTER the battle of Antietam that he decided to use slavery as a reason for CONTINUING the war. I invite you to read Lincoln’s FIRST inaugural address. You are correct in your “deep study” of the Confederate Articles of Secession in that 8 of 13 mentioned the institution of slavery as the MAIN grievance for separation, but what of the other 4? What did they say was their reason for secession? This means over 1/3 of the Confederacy seceded and slavery was NOT their main grievance. So whether you like it or not it wasn’t JUST about slavery. Was it a big part? Sure, but it wasn’t the whole story and you know it but continue to deny it. You can believe that “slavery is the only thing” brainwashing if you like, but it just proves your brainwashing by the leviathan education system. I’m sure we can agree that history is ALWAYS written by the winners and the winners ALWAYS make it look favorable for their position. As you know, it was the British Kings who actually set up slavery in the colonies and the Yankee slave ships of NY, CT and RI which made FORTUNES and proved more than helpful in bringing in slaves to the colonies for the King. For the record there were many Southern slave owners who didn’t like slavery and wanted to get rid of it in a “proper” manner such that a situation like the Haitian slave revolt did not happen in the South. So there was a movement in the South to end slavery but it wasn’t nearly as strong as the landed plantation owners pro slavery position.
As for the KKK there has been several “iterations” of it but the FIRST iteration can be defended based on the conditions in the South during “reconstruction”. Sadly I doubt you even know what happened in the south during reconstruction. For my family it was a horror enforced by a Yankee occupying army. Do I expect you to even care about the atrocities of reconstruction? No, as I’m sure your argument goes something along the lines of “well, they lost”. My great great grandfather died at Vicksburg so for me U.S. Grant is just another POS. And by the way my GGGF did NOT own slaves he just wanted to be left alone but it was not to be.
Had the South won their war for independence do you think there would STILL be slavery in the Confederate states over 150 years later? I say no because the industrial revolution would have made slavery uneconomical over time and the South would have had to switched to a mechanized manner for agrarian production out of sheer economy of scale. Would the Confederate States of America have worked out better than the “United States of Yankeedom”? I don’t know but they had the natural right to try without being further enslaved by dishonest Abe and his “forced” UNION. Every year I have toast on John Wilkes Booth birthday in praise for the man who shot “Lincoln the invader”.

You don’t have to convince me the North and Lincoln was evil, I have that well in hand but I find fault with both sides when it comes to human slavery. The South practiced a more direct kind of bondage while Lincoln and his Marxian Grand Old Politburo created a system that literally penalized you for success in direct taxation along with the introduction of conscription which is a more sophisticated term for uniformed bondage. You are correct that Lincoln did not use the pretext of slavery but the South did from the start.
And by the way I don’t think the slavery was the only issue but it was certainly preeminent, plenty of just complaints on unfair and disproportionate taxation of Southern products by the scoundrels in the North.
Per Yankee involvement in the slave trade, they bore the brunt of the shipping, happily.
I don’t mean to change your mind but I simply see no side to cheer for in the unpleasantness in the 1860-65 and the horrendous blow to liberty for everyone with Reconstruction and the 13th and 14th Amendment, the former stops chattel slavery and the latter puts everyone on the plantation.
A gentleman’s disagreement, GG and I would love not only to chat about firearms but go to the range. Hypocrisy is a strong word but I’ll chalk that to getting your blood up.
