RINO! The Grand Old Politburo and the Leviathan State by Bill Buppert

“We congratulate the American people upon your re-election by a large majority. If resistance to the Slave Power was the reserved watchword of your first election, the triumphant war cry of your re-election is Death to Slavery.”

– Karl Marx, Address of the International Working Men’s Association to Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States of America

Publisher’s Note: Bushevik I struggled through a speech in the last day with ominous and sonorous bleating about the inhospitable nature of the new Ring-holder in the Offal Office. For eight years, he stayed mum (if only he had remained so) under his ideological twin’s tenure in Mordor Corporate Headquarters. And now the First Mumbler has ponderously held forth in his unique Special Olympics rhetoric to say things like “[b]ullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry and compromises the moral education of children.” Like most of the Left and their collectivist apologists on the fake spectrum of the Left-Right@, the irony is rich; absent bullying, how could any government remain in power for a day?

Please continue your preps, please learn to shoot, learn to reload and get your skills ready for the coming contest. Either you learn to drive a rifle or ride a rail-car. In this case buy rail-cars worth of ammo to put by to make it harder for the usual suspects to rush you into the boxcar. The choice will be that stark. -BB

There is no such think as a Republican in Name Only (RINO), they have forever been the addled and mentally deficient little brothers Menshevik to the big brothers Bolshevik in the Democrat party. Lincoln birthed his party by swimming in the oceans of blood of his countrymen.

Always.

The Republican Party has always been the party of big government with a brief and wispy interregnum under Calvin Coolidge. I had even been deluded once to thinking that Grover Cleveland was a contender for smaller government but he is the father of the Interstate Commerce Commission, a ponderous idea and monster that has given enormous power to the leviathan state. It demonstrates how the political nomenklatura can take a single sentence from the Federalist’s precious slaver document and make it into the monstrosity that bestrides every man, woman and child today (not to mention the unborn progeny saddled with the debt through “implied consent”) under the Interstate Commerce Commission and its tentacles in every orifice it reaches.

Hugh Hewitt, a bloated big government Republican who does a three-hour spokes-budgie stand-up routine on AM radio recently posed as a thinker and offered up the wisdom of “ammunition control”.

To wit: “If people buy a lot of ammunition in a short period of time, this should trigger a red flag with law enforcement,” said Hewitt on the NBC “Meet the Press” show on Oct. 8”.

Herschel did a terrific analysis of this neoconservative bilge-water from the bloated talk show host. As a non-shooter, Hewitt is holding forth on things he knows nothing about and violates two cardinal rules of liberty.

  1. Tell me your position on private weapons ownership and I know exactly who you are morally and philosophically.
  2. If you fellate the police state, your interest in liberty is fundamentally zero.

Hewitt is no lone wolf in this; excepting Ron Paul, there is no reliable liberty-minded politician on the national stage. But then again, liberty can’t be accomplished through the political process. You can’t eradicate cannibals by eating them and that’s what the political process is.

Political parties are disease vectors. They are hybrid cocktails of the Milgram experiment and the Stockholm Syndrome with a strong police state chaser to set the virus in place. The virus is used to render an otherwise healthy ecology of spontaneous order into a shambling and largely inefficient engine for a select group of controllers to benefit at the expense of the whole. It is no more complex than that.

As evil and morally depraved as the Democrats are, at least they have the chutzpah to be rather open about their Stalinist tendencies even though they do dress the language nicely. The GOP is evil but puts on a face that is wholly the opposite of what it practices in actual lording over large swaths of Helots on the tax plantation.

Burn this into your mind: No politician in America favors limiting or prohibiting the gun ownership and access of government employees and those with special privileges granted by the ruling class to arm themselves. They are opposed to the private ownership of firearms. Every gun law on the books from the local to the Federal level have one purpose: to infringe, abridge and deny the non-government keeping and bearing of weapons. The Second Amendment merely guarantees a pre-existing natural right.

That is the goal. Wholesale eradication of weapons in private hands.

So I will quote myself at length and why Hewitt is not unique but cut from the same cloth as the Republican invertebrates that feed at the bottom of the vast swamp of DC. This is a party that has been at the vanguard of restricting and eliminating private weapons ownership.

The 1934 NFA federally regulated machine guns, suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, suppressors, and “destructive devices which included grenades and hundreds of items the ATF added at their leisure bureaucratically to a ban list or highly regulated. This was the first notion at the Federal level of using the imprimatur of sporting purposes (not the 1968 Gun Control Act as is popularly imagined) such as this from the text of the wretched bill: “Any firearm with a bore over 0.50 inch except for shotguns or shotgun shells which have been found to be generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes.”

No Republican opposition.

You will also note that America’s preeminence as a firearms innovator, especially in automatic weapons, dropped precipitously after the heavy regulation and ban on garage innovation occurred. The development of the M60 machine gun is Exhibit A.

The Federal Firearms Act of 1938 (FFA) imposed a federal license requirement on gun manufacturers, importers, and persons in the business of selling firearms. This created the infamous FFL controls on commerce.

No Republican opposition.

One should carefully read the nonsense passed by the Supremes in 1939 in US v. Miller in which sawed off shotguns became a regulated item. Here we see the tortured logic on display of how the government can start to enforce restrictions on military-type weapons in spite of the previous hundreds years jurisprudence talking about the military applicability of weapons choices in the individualist interpretation of the Second Amendment. Mind you, in contretemps to their own tortured conclusions in the rendering of the verdict. Neither the defendants nor their legal counsel appeared at the Supreme Court for the case. A lack of financial support and procedural irregularities prevented counsel from traveling. It’s worth noting that the Supremes clearly stated that military weapons were protected but the length of the weapon seemed to be the operative cause for the decision. A mere generation before shotguns had been employed in WWI by US forces.

No Republican opposition.

Fast-forward to 1967 and we have Republican Governor Ronald Reagan signing the Mulford Act, which repealed a law allowing open carrying loaded firearms in public. He did this in response to the Black Panthers carrying loaded weapons to the steps of the Big House in Sacramento. Tease out the facts and a law was passed to confirm the “bearing” of weapons but repealed? Before that, believe it or not, California had the now popular notion of Constitutional Carry for long arms and side arms. What a tangled web they weave.

No Republican opposition.

This was just before the infamous passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968 which severely curtailed gun rights across the board. The now extinct JPFO made a brilliant case for Senator Dodd; he was Vice-Chairman of the Review Board and later Executive Trial Counsel at the Nuremberg trials lifting the text almost entirely from the Nazi gun control laws in 1938. This would also create the noxious BATFE in 1968. And please keep in mind that a Democratic President passed this and twice as many Republicans as Democrats voted in favor of passage. You read that right. It was two Democrats, Colmer and Cellar who fought Johnson’s attempt to register all weapons in the United States.

No Republican opposition.

In 1972, Republican President Richard Nixon floats a proposal to ban handguns in America. To quote the scoundrel himself: “I don’t know why any individual should have a right to have a revolver in his house,” Nixon said in a taped conversation with aides. “The kids usually kill themselves with it and so forth.” He asked why “can’t we go after handguns, period?” Nixon went on: “I know the rifle association will be against it, the gun makers will be against it.” But “people should not have handguns.”

The Firearm Owners Protection Act is passed in 1986 which makes illegal all machine guns manufactured after that date and signed by the same man who signed the Mulford Act in 1967. Despite a prohibition on a national registry the act nonetheless enabled the ATF to codify turning in all out of business 4473 transactions and more intensely ramp up inspection that recorded all these “bound book” transactions. In effect, creating a de facto national gun registry in the Federal books codified by law.

No Republican opposition.

“You do know that I am a member of the NRA and my position on the right to bear arms is well known,” Reagan said, speaking out in support of the 1994 Brady bill to create new background checks and a waiting period for gun buyers. “But I want you to know something else, and I am going to say it in clear, unmistakable language: I support the Brady Bill and I urge Congress to enact it without further delay.”

In 1989, Bushevik I declared a ban on the import of cosmetically offensive “assault weapons”. This would be the prototype for the “Assault Weapons Ban“ in 1993.

No Republican opposition.

The idiotic Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 would be signed by Bushevik I in November 1990. Co-sponsored by Republican Senator Strom Thurmond, no less.

No Republican opposition.

Then the delightful and diabolical Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act which started the Orwellian NICS system for those stupid enough to purchase weapons from a store-front gun dealer with an FFL.

Then in 1993, the US passes the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB). So far, we haven’t even discussed the silliness of infringement on these alleged Second Amendment protections. I am a Constitutional skeptic of the highest order but my friends who still worship the parchment can provide no explanation for how often the 2A is violated yet they happily think the whole wretched system works just fine. What was interesting in this vote on the AWB is that the majority of Republicans opposed it but the Democrats fielded 64 nay votes versus the GOP nay tally of 131 because 46 Republicans voted for the ban when the Democrats owned the Offal Office.

On April 6, 1998 Clinton signed an order that permanently banned the importation of more than 50 types of semiautomatic “assault weapons”.

No Republican opposition.

Once Bushevik II is in office, he boldly claims that if the AWB comes across his desk for renewal, he will sign it because Americans shouldn’t own those types of weapons. He goes on to sign the NICS Improvement Act of 2007 which another Orwellian in the Federal pre-crime quiver for weapons ownership. Just another Big Brother improvement to data-basing potential malefactors.

It’s an interesting thought experiment to replace all these laws with the word book where gun is and one sees that the war of ideas is far more dangerous to political control than anything else. The powers that be just haven’t gotten around to gutting free speech with the merriment they have enjoined destroying personal armament.

Nor is there a single well-financed organization in America whose only task is to raze every Federal gun law to the ground and salt the earth. Certainly not the NRA. Maybe they’re distracted by flogging the NRA Wine Club.

Until the Republican love affair with authority and wood shampoos is eradicated, no accord will be reached as the powerful armed government employee lobby continues to push for wholesale disarmament of all non-agents. Like drunk-driving, the entire predicate of the massive hoplophobic complex in political law enforcement is the concept of pre-crime.

And then of course we have the 2008 DC v. Heller case in which the Republican appointed Supremes tell us about “dangerous and unusual” weapons that fly in the face of earlier findings on the germane necessity of military weapons to the 2A. Like Roberts, Scalia must think that pleasing the collectivist intelligentsia with his government supremacist nonsense is more important than mere freedom.

Scalia wrote this collectivist tripe in the syllabus for the decision.

“Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. [United States v.] Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.”

I am amused that he hearkens to US v. Miller which on its face supports my contention to carry weapons in present use by the military. I repeat, the Second Amendment is worth as much as the Constitution in defending individual liberty and freedom: worthless.

I so wish one vote had gone the other way in DC v. Heller so we could get on to resolving this firearms ownership issue once and for all. Even though it would be the hard way.

I am amused that the Republican victories in November 2014 2016 made folks think that freedom would ring.

Not a chance.

Caution: Rough ride ahead.

Resist. Rinse. Repeat.

To quote Mike Vanderboegh.: “Defy! Resist! Evade! Smuggle!”

“If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government –and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws.”

– Edward Abbey

  1. “…people should not have handguns.”

A key question to ask is: by what possible authority could someone make that decision for everyone else?

When the majority of people start asking that question, regarding everything politicians and bureaucrats control now, only then will there be any hope of founding a society based on individual liberty and justice. Most people actually seem to believe that non-voluntary government, at every level, actually has some legitimate authority to control their lives and property.

As long as that belief persists, little progress can be made toward individual liberty, self ownership, individual responsibility and voluntary association.

  3. Great article Bill. I could have used you and quit retorts Thursday night at the British Embassy here in Riyadh. I had the opportunity to discuss gun control with a Brit AF guy with 30 years on mental indoctrination. My host, a Scot, loves watching Americans debate Brits who love gun control. This guy was appalled by my position. It got to the point, we were at the same table, he would not even acknowledge me for over an hour after our “chat” I guess when I told him I did not give a shit about what he thought about disarming me got him a bit butthurt.

    1. Phillip,

The Brits and their anglophone countries world-wide are some to the of most hoplophobic nations on Earth. It was claimed in a documentary that the UK was the second most closed society behind the USSR in the War to Save Josef Stalin. The advancing Fabian socialism that infected the country at the denouement of the Victorian era created another communist seedbed for maximum government and the erasure of all personal liberty.

The whole “shot heard ’round the world” at Lexington and Concord was the British regulars attempting to confiscate guns and powder from the taxed colonists for their London masters. The UK has always opposed the PRIVATE ownership of weapons in one fashion or another.

The creation of the briefly free Atlantic seaboard nations from 1775 to 1791 was a small flash-fire of freedom extinguished by the Constitution.

  4. “There is not one politician in America who is opposed to limiting gun ownership of government employees and those with special privileges granted by the ruling class to arm themselves.”

Probably should edit this sentence to correct it. I’m sure you didn’t mean “opposed to limiting.”

  5. I think it was right the first time, Bill. Are you saying that politicians _don’t_ oppose disarming their employees and the “special” classes?

Read the entire paragraph and see if it reflects what you are trying to communicate.

  6. Those are powerful words..

“Either we drive OUR rifles, or ride THEIR ( theoretically anyway, we actually bought them) rail cars’.

Words to live and let die to.

As always you hit this one out of the park, and every one of these fucking shysters peddling us freedom should be allowed to hang out together.

Until their bones are picked clean.

    Sean

  9. Regarding a statement on another location in this blog- when you say you advocate ‘self-government,’ what moral foundation are you using in order to ensure the population will be in one accord in regards to such things as public decency, laws and penalties regarding criminal activity, etc?

  10. Greg, there’s only a few things that have to be “in one accord” in a free society, starting with the truly moral foundation of non-aggression. Self and mutual defense against those who do aggress. That’s it.

We don’t need “one accord” on any of the rest of it, though people will probably choose to live near others with like minded habits and traditions.

Live and let live, be responsible for yourself and dependents, mind your own business, and defend yourself.

And there is no guarantee you’ll like it. Whatever other people do that doesn’t harm you or others is none of your business.

No guarantees at all. Utopia is not an option.

    1. I see too many friction points in a situation where there are no clearly defined moral boundaries. ‘Live and let live,’ and ‘be responsible for yourself’ sound great, but they are (in my humble opinion) way too nebulous and open for interpretation. Being ‘a good citizen’ can be interpreted in as many ways as there are citizens interpreting it.

I agree utopia is not an option (nor attainable, again IMHO), but even the Sumerians 5000 years ago had a recorded code of laws for conduct, due to the necessity of everyone clearly understanding what ‘being a good citizen’ is, and how to ‘live and let live.’ I am enjoying this exchange, though. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens another man’s countenance, and civility in a discussion is always appreciated.

  11. On the subject of oscillating citizen dis-armament diktat, I’m thinking at the least at the fed black robed Nazgul level, its a push pull strategy, 2 steps “FORWARD!” as in the dirty stinkin’ commie neo-bolshevik agitprop sense, one step backwards to provide a fig leaf of an illusion of Liberty, (aside from the truth that hideous instrument of administrative tyranny has never been connected to the creation of an iota of Liberty: it being essentially a conspiracy of nothing but a loop hole cunningly crafted large enough to sail the planet Jupiter through it.)

Forward just till an undercurrent of rumblings of defiance & revolt increase, then back off till things go back to a cold anger simmer, throw the helots a bone or two, then wash/rinse/repeat.

Its always been about guns. Who has guns who doesn’t have guns, which politics control guns, which politics are controlled by the gun.

Thing is, our guns are upstream, just like our culture, of politics.

Lot of truth in that. You would have come for them already if otherwise.

And the most important thing, the first thing, our Rifles are our Property before anything.

So the 2nd means nothing, other than it is a red line drawn in the sand.

Everyone’s got a hairy eyeball on it.

    It’s your Rubicon to cross.

    It’s a fucking Mexican Standoff.
    Hundreds of millions of guns.
Not for nothing, but you got to be out of your fucking minds to think at this point after everything you are going to dis-arm us millions who have all those guns.
    Excuse me.
Are you that psychotic to think its possible?
Its a real pickle for you sonofabitches. One tyrant or another of you been trying 6 ways to Sunday for a couple hundred years to get them.

Realistically, we are sitting pretty regardless. The “laws” mean nothing. They never have. Only our resistance and defiance has ever mattered. Aside from actually possessing our Rifles. And thats the crux right there. We have Rifles.

“They”, have to come for our Rifles. All the “laws” in the world work both ways. Neither we or “them” have to obey or honor those “laws”. There is no ultimate power which determines we must obey those “laws”. They are man made. They can be man unmade a whole hell of a lot easier. We just say No. I Won’t.

The trick here, all along, and most of us at one time, and all the Normie’s & Fudd’s have or still do, fell or fall for the con, the trick is getting us to obey all the “laws” while “they” do everything but obey.

    See how it works?

Its consent, or withdrawal of consent at work. As Eric Frank Russell put it, “The Most Powerful Weapon Ever Devised”: “I Won’t!” & “MYOB!”. Or my favorite, BFYTW.

    I’m with you Bill.

    “Come and get them” Bitchez.
Run back, tell your masters like good little slaves you all lurking watching us.
    You don’t scare us.
    You got nothing on us.
    Lets see you all try.
You don’t know what indomitable spirit is.
If you truly did, none of this parsing and slight of hand with the 2nd Amendment bullshit would be going on.
Bring an army, better bring two, and tanks.
    Your gonna need them.
    This goes beyond Liberty.
    This is existential shit.
We be fighting for what matters most.
We have had decades to prepare our hearts and minds.
We have learned how to live with less.
We have built our tribes, made allies all over our AO, got right with all that, and the Lord.
    We know whats coming.
Things you outside our demographic can not imagine.
Because we who will never bend a knee do BFYTW like nobody else.
We are exceedingly good at BFYTW.
    BFYTW is in our bones.
    We hold a high ground.
You are simply not getting our guns.
If you kill us you still haven’t beat us.
    We don’t give up.
You have never seen the likes of us.
    Its not a threat.
It just is what it is.
That’s all there is to it.
    Its that simple.
Our Rifles is all we have between our freedom and your tyranny.
They are ours. We see no reason, no reason whatsoever to give them up.
